Well Registraion and Permitting

Effective October 8, 2008, a well owner must apply to the District for a well registration certificate prior to drilling a new well. Additionally, all wells existing as of that date must register with the District. Non-exempt wells, as defined in District Rule 3.1.B, also require an operating permit.

To register a well, complete a copy of the Well Registration Application. The completed form must be submitted to the District at the following address:

Sarita, Texas 78385
(361)294-5336 - Phone

The well registration application will be reviewed. If additional information is required for registration, the applicant will be contacted. Once all required information is received, a well registration certificate will be issued for the existing well or proposed well that complies with District Rules.

Certain wells may need an operating permit under District Rule 3. If an operating permit is required, the applicant for registration will be notified and will be sent a copy of the District’s operating permit application. An application for an operating permit will be handled in a manner consistent with District Rule 8.

All questions regarding well registrations and permitting should be directed to the phone number and address listed above.
